List of treatable pathologies

Application of spa mud is particularly effective for both relieving pain and reducing inflammation. A cycle of mud balneotherapy considerably lowers circulatory levels of he substances that accelerate and worsen inflammation and deterioration of the damaged cartilage. Mud therapy can help to protect articular cartilage, reducing possible damage caused by degenerative arthropathy. It has been seen that the special substances produced by the microorganisms that colonise the “mature” mud have a positive effect on the metabolism of the chondrocyte, the articular cartilage cell.

It has been scientifically proven that mud balneotherapy helps to rebalance the metabolism of bone tissue and its remineralisation, by working on both local and general mechanisms. In conjunction with physical exercise, mud balneotherapy helps to preserve bone mineral density and may even have an anabolic effect. Our hotel guests can take part in moderate physical activity every day in the spa pools and, when combined with spa treatments, this will help to restore wellbeing of mind and body and improve quality of life. Mud balneotherapy is not suitable for those suffering from heart problems, ischaemic heart diseases, severe cerebral and peripheral vasculopathy, nephropathies with kidney deficiency, during the acute stage of diseases of an inflammatory nature, epilepsy, hyperthyroidism or malignant tumours. Nor can mud be used on legs with varicose veins, especially when coupled with complications such as phlebitis or ulcers, during pregnancy or the first few days of menstruation. There are however no contraindications for the application of mud for those with metallic joint prostheses or metal plates for osteosynthesis.
